Year 10 Mixed Media - Encounter Lutheran College

Year 10 Art students from Encounter Lutheran College explored water through the work of different artists. Through experimentation with different materials, students have investigated the movement and fragility of our oceans, while considering environmental challenges that threaten them.

Inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s expressive painting style in the Monet to Matisse: Defying Tradition exhibition, students created oil paintings that use exaggerated colour and texture looking at our local Fleurieu seascapes. 

In contrast, students also investigated the work of Quandamooka artists Sonja and Elisa Jane Carmichael, considering their relationship to the water and their culture. We explored issues around the health of our oceans and our connection to our marine life.
