Our Front of House volunteers play a vital role in day-to-day activities by interacting with the public and promoting the role of the Gallery and its collection. Key tasks include confidently engaging, welcoming and directing gallery visitors to exhibitions, special displays and works of art, answering visitor questions, and providing information about guided tours, talks, events and activities.

AGSA is an institution that is open 10am – 5pm 7 days a week, 364 days a year. Our roster is structured around three shifts a day – a morning, a lunchtime and an afternoon shift. These shifts are 2 ½ hours long and volunteers are required to be positioned at our Vestibule Information Desk off North Terrace and at the Atrium Information Desk located at the back of the Gallery near the Restaurant.

During AGSA’s exhibition calendar opportunities arise which offer our Front of House volunteers’ situations to expand on their roles and responsibilities. These experiences could be both during opening hours or are after hour events involving invigilation, facilitation, research and information sharing.
