Monet to Matisse: Long Looking for Teachers
Tues 14 Jul, 2026
$60 non-member, $50 members and TRT, $30 pre-service or Department of Education teachers
Building on strategies introduced to AGSA staff by Claire Bown (author of The Art Engager), this session explores participatory approaches that invite visitors to slow down, look closely and build meaningful connections with art with no prior knowledge required.
With strong school visit demand for Monet to Matisse: Defying Tradition, AGSA has developed alternative ways for teachers to engage with the exhibition beyond guided tours. Join Education Manager Kylie Neagle for a practical exploration using techniques inspired by Claire Bown, including audio‑led reflection, provocations and questions, colour walks, sensory strolling, and spending extended time with a single work of art.
