Prepare for your Term 1 visit to AGSA with an exclusive preview of Floating Worlds: Woodblock Prints from Osaka & Kyoto.

Join Russell Kelty, Curator of Asian Art, for a special teacher-only introduction to the fascinating world of kamigata ukiyo-e, the distinctive woodblock prints of Osaka and Kyoto. Be among the first to learn about works from AGSA's remarkable new collection, acquired through the M.J.M. Carter AO Bequest, before they go on public display.

Designed to support educators planning a Term 1 gallery visit, this session will explore the stories, techniques and cultural context behind these extraordinary prints, created between c.1790 and c.1900. Teachers will enjoy a rare up-close viewing of collection highlights, gain insights into the upcoming exhibition, and discover ideas for engaging students with Japanese art and culture.

Participants will take part in a close-looking activity with an original print, receive a take-home reproduction, and have the opportunity to ask questions about the collection, exhibition and classroom connections.

Booking will open soon.
