Year 3 Mark Making - Linden Park Primary School
Line and pattern drawings inspired by Betty Muffler
Year 3 students at Linden Park Primary School enjoyed exploring the work of Betty Muffler and responding to her work in a culturally appropriate and meaningful way. Muffler’s work depictsTjukurpa (ancestral creation story) and healing sites, places she has a connection to.
Using this concept as a starting point, the students were asked to think of a place they feel connected to and create a line and pattern work of art that captured the essence of this place. Using a coloured paper circles for their background, students reflected on their holidays, with many depicting seascapes and landscapes. Others recalled places further away like the Great Wall of China and the Murray River. - Kara Loan, Art teacher at Linden Park Primary
