Warakurna, WA

Warakurna Artists is a not-for-profit organisation that is fully owned and governed by Ngaanyatjarra people. It is based in the community of Warakurna, nestled in the Rawlinson Ranges of Western Australia near the border with the Northern Territory. In 2015 Warakurna Artists merged with Kayili Artists and now supports artists residing in Warakurna, Wanarn and Patjarr. The art centre works closely with Wanarn Aged Care, providing a weekly art outreach program to its patients.

Warakurna Artists is an energetic, creative space where members of the community can paint and share tjukurrpa (traditional law and culture) and contemporary stories. The artwork from Warakurna Artists is vibrant and diverse, reflecting the varied artists represented by the art centre. Warakurna Artists plays an important role in the community, providing cultural and social benefits in addition to economic returns.
