Mowanjum Art and Culture Centre

Mowanjum Art and Culture Centre is the creative hub for the Worrorra, Ngarinyin and Wunumbal people who make up the community of Mowanjum, which lies 10 kilometres outside Derby in the West Kimberley region of Western Australia. The three language groups are united in their belief of the Wandjina, the sacred ancestral spiritual beings who created the land and control the elements, the flora and fauna, and the humans.

These three language groups are custodians of Wandjina Wunggund law. Typically, the artwork created at Mowanjum reflects the ancient stories and paintings held in the many caves on Country.

Mowanjum Art and Culture Centre is a creative hub producing works that often reflect the ancient stories and paintings of Wandjina ancestral beings from the West Kimberley.
