Nauiyu, NT

Merrepen Arts, Culture and Language Centre, founded in 1986, is a well-established Aboriginal art centre in the Indigenous community of Nauiyu, on the Daly River 230 kilometres from Darwin. The centre, which has around 130 members, has a national and international reputation for producing unique paintings, etchings and textiles. In 2020 Merrepen artist Kieren Karritpul won the Textile Design Award at the National Indigenous Fashion Awards.

The art centre consists of a gallery that is open to the public and workshops for painting, printmaking and textile production.
