As a proud Wangkumara contemporary artist, Crista Bradshaw’s practice explores cultural identity, memory and cross-cultural artistic dialogues. Using a multidisciplinary approach spanning painting, sculpture, installation and text-based media, she examines narratives of dispossession and resilience. Her research-based practice uses an Indigenist methodology to make visible silences caused by colonisation, drawing on archives, connections to Country and creative experimentation.

Engaging with the City of Adelaide’s collections has offered a valuable opportunity to deepen her inquiry, allowing Bradshaw to explore how its archives, monuments and public artworks reflect its cultural identity and the inclusion, or absence, of First Nations histories.
