Tarnanthi - JamFactory ICON Ellen Trevorrow: Weaving Through Time
4 Oct – 7 Dec 2025
JamFactory’s ICON series celebrates the achievements of South Australia’s most influential visual artists working in craft-based media. Aunty Ellen Trevorrow is a proud Ngarrindjeri woman and prolific cultural weaver from the Coorong coastal region southeast of Tarntanya (Adelaide). She harvests rushes from the spiny flat sedge plant on Ngarrindjeri Country and creates traditional objects, such as sister baskets and mats, as well as contemporary sculpture. Aunty Ellen’s innate teaching abilities have led her to conduct numerous workshops, inspiring many Ngarrindjeri weavers to follow in her footsteps. This touring exhibition celebrates Aunty Ellen’s skill and knowledge by showcasing an ambitious range of fashion garments, bags, jewellery and fascinators developed specifically for this project.
