Ryan Andrew Lee’s two-channel video work Wonnarua acts as both homage and lament as it considers the continuing legacy of colonialism on Wonnarua Country. A digital diptych, it juxtaposes contrasting imagery and competing worldviews – such as the serenity of slow-moving creeks and verdant rainforest against the brutalised landscape and stagnant ponds around the cavernous Muswellbrook coal mine. Disquieting yet beautiful, this work provides a portrait of Wonnarua people and Country, breathing as one, against a toxic exhalation.

Wonnarua screens as part of the FELTdark after-dusk exhibition program of video works.
