JamFactory’s annual ICON exhibition celebrates the achievements of South Australia’s most influential visual artists working in craft-based media. Kunmanara Carroll is a Luritja/Pintupi/Pitjantjatjara artist from Ernabella Arts, at Pukatja in the APY Lands. For Carroll, who is concerned with passing on cultural knowledge, his paternal homeland is an unwavering source of inspiration and the recurring subject within his oeuvre of painting and ceramic sculpture. Carroll is the first Aboriginal artist to be featured in the JamFactory ICON series. This exhibition, developed with Ernabella Arts, showcases a significant new body of ceramic works supported by related paintings and a woven tapestry produced by the Australian Tapestry Workshop.
