A Thousand Journeys: The Helen Read Collection
25 Nov 2017 – 11 Feb 2018
Helen Read was first captivated by Aboriginal art over thirty years ago when she began working with remote Indigenous artists and their communities. Since then she has built a significant collection of art from Australia’s Top End.
A Thousand Journeys is a travelogue of Read’s earliest journeys. It reflects on the rise of Aboriginal art during the 1990s and the significance of this period in the recent history of Aboriginal art production.
