Based in Tarntanya (Adelaide), Kate Bohunnis works in metal, mould-making, textiles, print and sound. Focusing on identity, gender and queer perspectives, Bohunnis’ installations connect materials with psychological states and behaviours.

As a child, Bohunnis was introduced to the pendulum as a method of healing and guidance. Through overuse, this ‘tool’ bred anxiety and disempowerment. In edges of excess, the axe blade swings precariously over the slumped body, it invites the viewer to consider the tipping point between function and dysfunction.
