The Studio: Time Capsule
27 Feb - 8 Jun 2026
Open daily, with facilitated sessions on weekends & school holidays
Join us in The Studio to create a time capsule inspired by artist Charlie Sofo featured in the 2026 Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art: Yield Strength.
Charlie invites you to write a list of all the things that happened to you today, or this week or year. Remember that all materials and events in the world can tell us something important, even the smallest and seemingly insignificant.
Share three things that interest or inspire you and using the materials provided, create a snapshot of your life in the here and now.
Seal your time capsule with a sticker and take it home as a special keepsake-or leave it for others to find in the Studio, adding to a growing collection of stories and memories.
A time capsule is a special container filled with object, drawings or notes that capture a moment in time. It helps people in the future understand what life was like for you right now.

About Charlie Sofo
Born and based in Melbourne, Sofo is known for working with what is at hand – ordinary objects and simple actions – often arranged as drawing, sculpture, video, text, performance and installation. His practice explores memory, materiality and meaning, deeply rooted in everyday life.
The universe of objects I choose to display in The Studio is a sort of time capsule, encouraging participants to think about the significance and relationships between objects in the world.
For Schools
The Studio is open weekdays during school term for a free facilitated session, all materials provided.
