Comics and Characters with Layne Dhu-Dickie
27 Sep 2025 - 26 Jan 2026
Open daily, with facilitated sessions on weekends & school holidays
Join us in The Studio to create a character for a comic inspired by Banyjima artist Layne Dhu-Dickie.
Using bright and bold colours draw a comic storyboard featuring your own unique character. Are they a hero or a villain? Do they have special powers? It might be based on yourself or someone you know. Make a sticker of your comic character to add to our collaborative storyboard.
Dhu-Dickie couples finely detailed drawings with a sense of humour to create one-off characters who share moral codes and life unique to the Pilbara region of Western Australia. When he was aged seven, he began drawing characters such as Sonic the Hedgehog and would spend time reading his dad’s Phantom comics.
You can see Captain Headland versus The Fisherman, a comic book by Dhu-Dickie on display in The Studio.
