2026 Start Art Prize Entry Form

The Art Gallery of South Australia’s dedicated program for children and families, Start, is excited to showcase the creative achievements by South Australia’s youngest artists in our annual Start Art Prize Exhibition.

Feature artist, Gemma Rose Brook, is the 2026 Start Art Prize Judge.

Gemma Rose Brook is an Australian painter, based in Adelaide on Kaurna land. Her emotive on-location work explores a hypersensitive and embodied experience of connecting to environments and landscapes. Working from life, her bold compositions, expressive mark-making and distinctive palette draw on modernist and expressionist painting. This year's exhibition explores the transformative spirit of modern art. Use our Start at Home activities or join us in The Studio or at Start and create your masterpiece.

Entries close on 19 July 2026 and finalists will be showcased in our SALA online exhibition in August 2026. Winners will be announced as part of the Start at the Gallery event on Sunday 2 August and online.
