Tjungu Palya
Tjukurpa Kaṉpinyatjara
This large painting was made at Tjungu Palya, meaning ‘all good together’, an art centre located at Nyapari, south of Uluru, in the Aṉangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands of South Australia. Tjungu Palya is a meeting place where artists from different homelands converge. Similarly, this collaborative canvas is a gathering place for many artists. Led by senior artist Marita Baker, the painting’s development began with her laying down the emu tracks of the Kalaya Tjukurpa (Emu ancestral story) at Kaṉpi, an important rockhole site.
