Polo’s process is intuitive and spontaneous and focuses on responsive image-making, which he achieves with colour, quick gesture and fragmented forms. Working on multiple images simultaneously, Polo is interested in the transfer of energy and memory across his works.

Exploring themes of identity, intimacy and emotional connection in his work, Polo examines the complexities of human relationships, often depicting fragmented or exaggerated forms to reflect vulnerability, fluidity and the transient nature of the every day. Polo’s use of abstraction and gestural mark-making connects to the emotional undercurrents of his subjects, offering a dialogue between the visible and the imagined.
