Jack Ball
Jack Ball developed Heavy Grit in response to a collection of scrapbooks held at the Australian Queer Archives, which included press clippings from the 1950s to 1970s. Ball explores fragments and glimpses of these histories and desires through sensory and material connections. Photographed studio constructions are entangled with moments of everyday life and the shapes of the original newspaper clippings are reflected in the images. The work draws connections between geological, socio-historical and bodily archives.
