Clara Adolphs
Clara Adolphs’s work is focused on memory and what remains after a particular moment has passed. Primarily using photographs and repetition in her work, she poses the question: what provides a more accurate representation of time – a photograph or a painting? Initially painted as a backdrop for her figurative works, Clouds and their ever-changing nature have become a new focus of her work.
February Thirteenth references a formation seen by Adolphs as it moved past her house on a summer’s day in February 2024. Adolphs’s intention was to create an immersive experience of a moment in time. Her monumental paintings take us on a journey across the sky, just as she had experienced on that summer’s day.
