Pmara Ingkarraka nhanha nama – Our country belongs to us explores the mesmerising landscapes across Aranda Country depicted in watercolour by the early Hermannsburg school of artists. The display features renowned Ntaria (Hermannsburg) artists such as Albert Namatjira, Otto Pareroultja, Herbert Raberaba and Walter Ebatarinja as well as several women artists from the time, such as Gloria Moketarinja and Cordula Ebatarinja, whose work and prominence were overshadowed by the male artists.

This selection of works is part of a significant recent donation by Dr Beverly Castleman and Alan Castleman of 94 Ntaria watercolours spanning decades and generations, which enriches the Gallery’s collection.

Thanks to the artists from Iltja Ntjarra Many Hands Art Centre and manager Marisa Maher for their curatorial consultation on Pmara Ingkarraka nhanha nama – Our country belongs to us.
