Matthew ‘Teapot’ Djipurrtjun is a Ganalbiŋu Malibirr man of the Gandarrŋur Malibirr people from the Northern Territory. Born in Gove in 1984, he lives and works on Yolŋu Country at Yurrwi (Milingimbi), on his mother’s Gamalaŋga Country.

Matthew 'Teapot' Djipurrtjun is a ceremonial leader and artist known for his strong traditional arts knowledge, melded with his own unique striking style and contemporary techniques.

Teapot lives in Milingimbi by his mothers' Gamalaŋga country, not far from his ancestral country around the Arafura Swamp east of Ramingining, a place he visits as often as he can. His family belongs to the Gandarrŋur Malibirr people, whose country is Gandarrŋur (meaning 'in the middle'), around the deep waters of the Ŋaliyindi billabong.

Matthew Teapot Djipurrtjun’s works often reflect on what it means to create: from the crafting of the universe, to artistic practice in its many forms.
