Isadora Vaughan
Isadora Vaughan was born in 1987 on Wurundjeri Woi‑wurrung and Bunurong/Boon Wurrung Country in Naarm/Melbourne, Victoria, where she continues to live and work today.
Vaughan’s practice explores the intricate relationships between living forms and the systems that shape them. She is particularly interested in the layered, contingent nature of novel ecosystems—environments such as urban rewilding sites where human influence has fundamentally transformed the landscape, and where native and introduced species coexist in unexpected ways. Working across mixed media, Vaughan examines how these hybrid ecologies emerge, adapt, and evolve, revealing the porous boundaries between human and non‑human worlds.
Not limited to the controlled climate of the art gallery, Feral ecologies also inhabits the terrace on the upper level of Samstag Museum of Art, where the work and its viewers are exposed to the elements.
