99 Names, 2018, for Divided Worlds is the culmination of a series created by Khaled Sabsabi over a decade, between 2007 and 2017. For this multimedia artist, the series has been an act of healing, one that has assisted him to come to terms with his first-hand encounters of the destruction in Beirut immediately after the 2006 conflict.

Through a meditation on the horrific consequences of armed conflict, 99 Names also speaks to us of the transcendence that lives in the cornerstone in the heart of humanity. Sabsabi’s unflinching eye documents the consequences of war and directs our own gaze to the unimaginable physical destruction caused by anger and hatred, whose hubris separates us from God.
