Join us for an immersive evening of exploration and creativity delving into the hidden layers of Dangerously Modern artists. Journey through the intimate spaces of domestic interiors in a hands-on mixed media workshop, hear about Stella Bowen’s interior themed works of art or learn how to edit a Wikipedia biography and help grow the online presence of women artists. Finish your evening with a mesmerising sonic experience in the Elder Wing or groovy tunes in the courtyard.

Dangerous Women - Wikipedia Edit-a-thon

Did you know that only 20% of biographies on Wikipedia are about women? When it comes to women artists, that number is even lower. Learn how to create and edit Wikipedia entries and help us increase information about Australian women artists on the world’s largest and most popular research tool. You will have the opportunity to work on Wikipedia entries of artists featured in Dangerously Modern: Australian Women Artists in Europe 1890-1940.

Whether you’re chillin’ or groovin’, Live Slug Reaction will set the vibe. This 5-piece groove band take influence from anything they can get their greedy tentacles on, transforming the sounds to create original contemporary compositions of moody soundscapes and danceable tracks.

Join Dr Georgina Downey, Author, Art Historian and Educator for a floor talk focusing on the works of art by Stella Bowen in Dangerously Modern. Read Georgina’s contributing essay in the Dangerously Modern catalogue – available online and from the Gallery Store.

Intimate Interiors – Mixed media workshop with Lise Temple

Join us for a hands-on creative workshop where we explore the art of depicting interiors through collage, drawing, and painting. Create an abstract interior or still life beginning with observations to develop a study, then moving onto creating a new interpretation of the subject using collage. This will form the basis for the final abstract work of art.

All materials supplied, suitable for over 16 years and all levels of experience.
Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult who is also registered for the workshop.

Let sound artist Margie Jean Lewis lead you on an auditory journey that complements the visual experience, evoking deeper emotions and connections. Stay for the whole set or enjoy the ambiance while moving through the Gallery.
