Kate Hendry is an emerging artist and educator working on Kaurna Yarta/Adelaide. Hendry received her Bachelor of Visual Art from Adelaide Central School of Art in 2024 as a scholarship recipient. As a self described, “unreliable narrator” her oil paintings explore the domestic, the intimate and the mundane. In 2024 she was a finalist in the Kennedy Painting Prize and she won the Peoples Choice Award at the Prospect Portrait Prize in 2025. Kate was awarded a 12 Month Residency at Floating Goose Studios and completed an international studio residency NES Studios, Skagastrond, Iceland in 2025. Her work has been included in group exhibitions across Adelaide and Iceland.

Activity

Joined by Kate Hendry, participants explored the Impressionists and Van Gogh's approach to artmaking using oil pastels. Using a table full of sunflowers, ducks and fabric as inspiration, they experimented with broken colour and expressive mark-making.
