South Australian artists Arlon Hall and Billie Justice Thomson invite you to slow down and lose yourself inside a painting. Inspired by Monet to Matisse: Defying Tradition this iteration of the Studio will explore light, colour, line and shape through hands-on experimentation.

About Billie Justice Thomson

Billie Justice Thomson is a visual artist working in Tarntanya/Adelaide. Billie studied painting at Adelaide University (formerly the University of South Australia) before relocating to Naarm/Melbourne in 2011, where she built a strong studio practice.

In 2016, she returned to Adelaide where she continues to focus on her family and career.

Billie’s work investigates themes of nostalgia and sentimentality, often centering on everyday objects, iconic Australian imagery, and familiar food and drink. Through vibrant, energetic compositions, her practice invites a quiet, reflective appreciation of the small, often overlooked moments that shape daily life.

Billie work has featured in Pixar Animation Studios, fashion label Gorman and magazines including Gourmet Traveller, Harpers Bazaar, Qantas, SBS Food and more.

About Arlon Hall

Arlon Hall is a contemporary Adelaide artist predominantly working in painting, drawing and sculpture. Hall’s current practice investigates the relationship between line, colour and form, fusing these elements together, exploring the moments in between and in collision. He has recently been exploring ways to extend his painting and drawings through sculpture and interactive installation.

He is a member of the art collective 'The Bait Fridge', where his practice is further expanded through performance, dance and costume making. Hall also works as a secondary high school art teacher and has been actively involved in running and assisting youth art workshops, including Carclew’s Pom Pom program.
