WALL LABEL: Hans Heysen: The Creative Journey, 1992
Between 1904 and 1907 Heysen made a number of pastel studies of haystacks. They were well suited to this medium, with Heysen building up layers of coloured marks to gain the final shimmering result. This work depicts a haystack on Prescott Farm, which at that time was primarily a dairy farm in Rose Park, Adelaide.
