WALL LABEL: Hans Heysen: The Creative Journey, 1992
This is a completed compositional study for the painting Mystic Morn. In it we can see that Heysen initially contemplated having a figure walking beside the cow on the far left. Very faint grid lines indicate the way that Heysen transferred the design to the larger scale of the canvas.
