Jess Dare is a contemporary jeweller and object maker based in Adelaide, whose practice is influenced by the symbolism of flowers, what they are used for, and their ability to remind us of life’s transience.

In Unspoken, Dare has created a pile of leucadendron as they begin to wilt and settle into the earth, no longer in full bloom. They are uncoloured allowing you to see the maker’s marks on the work and the time spent creating each flower. While making this work Dare was traversing a period of loss and grief and her art explores the ways in which flowers are used in death rituals.
