These works, photographic scenes of burnt landscapes in singed frames, reflects on the cultural significance of fire in Australia and Indigenous care for Country through fire management.
Indigenous fire management is distinct to each eco-system and burns were timed to ensure the ideal conditions for germinating seeds and clearing dead plant material for new growth. This knowledge has been disrupted by colonisation, leading to the increased amount of catastrophic fire events and it has only been in recent years that traditional burning practices have been reintroduced to parts of Australia.
