We Call This Place...Kaurna Yarta is a Becquerel daguerreotype series of Kaurna places with the Kaurna name etched across the surface of the plate. I worked closely with non-Indigenous researcher Chester Schultz, who had been working with the Kaurna community for many years to research the origin of Kaurna place names and the correct spellings of the place names.
I worked closely with him to select specific Kaurna places and their correct proper Kaurna names and then I had them etched across the silver plate of the daguerreotype. The idea behind this was to restore the original Kaurna names to these landscapes which have often been either misspelt or completely renamed in English. So, for this I was trying to restore our place names back into the landscape.
